For the annual auto market data that the industry is looking forward to, the assistant secretary-general of the China Automobile Association, Chen Shihua, described it as “re-creating a new record”.

In December, China's automobile production and sales were 3.0628 million and 3.0537 million, respectively, and both production and sales exceeded 3 million, an increase of 15.04% and 9.47% respectively. It is not easy to maintain high growth in the case of high bases in November. Looking back at the growth of each month of this year, we found that the cumulative growth rate has gradually increased. Chen Shihua concluded: "The performance of the automotive industry in 2016 is strong."

Due to the influence of “cheat” and subsidy new policies, the development of new energy vehicles in 2016 has become the focus of attention in the industry. However, the data released today shows that in 2016, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China were 517,000 and 507,000 respectively, an increase of 51.7% and 53% respectively over the same period of the previous year. Among them, pure electric vehicles sold 409,000 units, accounting for 80%, an increase of 65.1% over the same period of the previous year.

Chen Shihua analyzed that the production and sales rules of new energy vehicles in 2016 were similar to those of last year, and reached the highest level in the last 11 months and December, with sales of new energy vehicles reaching 104,000 in December.
